Culinary Tourism Alliance nominated for National Tourism Award

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve been short listed for the 2016 Canadian Tourism Awards as a finalist in the Culinary Tourism Award category.

The Canadian Tourism Awards are presented annually by TIAC to celebrate success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s travel and tourism industry and recognize those who go above and beyond to offer superior tourism experiences in Canada.

Other finalists in the Culinary Tourism Award category include the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance and Calgary Food Tours, both from Calgary, Alberta.

“It is an honour and a privilege for the Culinary Tourism Alliance be a finalist for the inaugural Culinary Tourism Award at TIAC’s Canadian Tourism Awards. We are in great company with our fellow finalists – the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance and Calgary Food Tours. It is so exciting to see food tourism gain critical awareness as a valued part of the tourism industry in Canada. We are excited to be part of building Canada’s taste of place”  said Rebecca Mackenzie, Executive Director of the Culinary Tourism Alliance.

This year, there were over 130 submissions for the annual awards. It is the first year a Culinary Tourism Award will be given out.

The awards will be presented at the dinner ceremony at the Hilton Hotel Lac Leamy in Gatineau on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Since its inception in 2003, this gala evening has become a highlight of the Tourism Congress.
