One of our favorite experiences of 2014 involved a leisurely afternoon drive through sporadic snow flurries in Bruce County. We visited bakeries, farms and ended it all in Caledon at Spirit Tree Cidery.
Cider maker Thomas shared some of his winter creations with us — including a limited edition old English style cider made with nutmeg and raisins — while we munched on charcuterie at a table over looking the frosty orchard. We fell in love with cider all over again that afternoon.
That’s partly why we’re so excited to tell you that cider masters from 3 local cideries are collaborating this Valentines Day to bring you an amazing experience at Spirit Tree.
It’s a 6-course dinner accompanied by copious amounts of local cider and a side of entertainment — plus outdoor fondue! Chef Chris Haworth (also the cider maker at West Avenue Cider) and Chef Ryan Adam have an amazing meal planned and paired. It includes treats like Prairie Rice Risotto and Quail Au Cidre. The final course will be served bonfire-side with fireworks.
As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll get to try new and reserve ciders from Spirit Tree Estate Cidery, Pommies and West Avenue Cider — three of favorite Ontario cider houses!
What better way is there to celebrate with your sweetheart than a glass of sparkling cider and hot fondue? We can’t think of one.
More information and tickets can be found here. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Bethell House Hospice in Caledon.
