In the wake of last week’s Chardonnay Day, we thought it appropriate to share some lovely local news about one of our favorite County wineries (Oh, you Pixie, you!). ARosehall Run began 2014 with some serious accolades.
Their 2011 ChardonnayAJCRARosehall Vineyard was one of only two Canadian wines to be recognized in UK’sAthe drink business,Athe world’s leading drinks trade publication, in their 2013 Global Masters of Chardonnay competition.
?Its no longer a secret that Prince Edward County has some very special dirt that seems to coax the best out of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines…The list of wineries delivering these extraordinary wines is growing every year, but one of the most consistent, which just keeps getting better as the vines grow older, is Hilliers Rosehall Run.? said Rick VanSickle of WinesInNiagara.com
The Global Masters Of Chardnnay competition is relatively new and focuses exclusively on Chardonnay. AThe goal is to push aside all preconceived ideas about this global grape variety and judge the wines from across the world by style and price exclusively.
The JCR Chardonnay is described by John Szabo, Canada’s master sommelier as a wine with an “oak profile that allows the hallmark County minerality to play a more prominent role. There’s also sufficient flesh and fruit concentration to support the ensemble, not to mention remarkable density and richness, concentration and length.”
Sounds like a cool, rich dream in a glass, doesn’t it?
While you’re at it though, give into the pink and pick up a bottle of ‘Pixie’. AThis pretty little number sports tiny bubbles, a soft strawberry on the palate and plenty of pairing possibilities. ATrust us, you won’t regret it!
