25 Things to Do (and Eat!) in Oxford County this Fall

While we’re sad to see fair summer go, autumn brings with it new and delicious experiences across the province. Take the time to explore the unexpectedly delicious corners of this province; places like Oxford County!  Read on for the season’s best events and activities to add to your autumn bucketlist.

1. Eat delicious cheese along the Oxford County Cheese Trail.

The rolling country sides and beautiful farmscapes make fall the ideal time to get out on the Cheese Trail.  Book a cheese factory tour, try local cheese menu items, get lost in a corn maze and so much more.

2. Cozy Up with a Cajetta Latte

While fall is synonymous  with pumpkin spice, may we recommend the cajetta latte from The Olde Bakery Cafe instead? This latte uses a goats milk caramel which gives a not-too-sweet twist to your regular latte. Plus try their new veggie wrap during September featuring cheese from Bright Cheese & Butter.

3. Try the Curds at Mountainoak Cheese

Have you heard?  Mountainoak now makes curds and they’re fantastic. You’ll be drooling over the ones with black pepper!

4. Bite into a Fresh Apple

Fall and apples are fairly synonymous.  Pair them up with our favourite Oxford County cheeses and you’re all set to go! Grab your apples first at Sundown Farms or Bickles Orchard Park Farm.

5. Feast On House Made Cavelli Pasta at SixThirtyNine

If you’re popping into Feast On Certified SixThirtyNine in the next little bit, be sure to take advantage of their delicious cavelli pasta while it lasts! Using handeck from Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese, this pasta also features walnut pesto, king oyster mushrooms, kale, carrot puree and carrot crumble.

6. Catch a Fall Fair

See what Ontario agricultural fun is all about at one of three fall fairs.  Tavistock (September 8-10),  Drumbo (September 22-24) or Embro(September 15-17).

7. Get Lost

Is there anything better than getting lost in a corn maze? Snyders Family FarmLeaping Deer Adventure Farm and the Norwich Optimist Club all host fall corn mazes you’ll love.

8. Experience Canadian Ag Culture

Did you know that the largest agricultural trade show in North America is hosted in Woodstock? On September 12-14, check out the latest agricultural innovations and equipment at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. You’ll love the Young Animal Development Center, handling demos, tractors and more.

9. See Sustainable Farming at Work

On Sept 16th, Greener Pastures Eco Farm is opening the doors! Check out their animals, have your questions answered and grab lunch! You’ll love meeting their heritage breeds.

10. Visit an Adventure Farm

Nothing rings in fall and helps create family memories like a visit to an adventure farm.  This fall, pay a visit to either Leaping Deer Adventure Farm or Snyder’s Family Farm for delicious treats, animal interaction, exciting games and the chance to teach your kids where their food comes from.

11. Pick the Perfect Pumpkin

Have some fun in the great outdoors with a visit to the pumpkin patch at Snyder’s Family Farm.  With so many to choose from, you can easily make this into a family excursion.

12. Welcome Fall on the Farm

September 30th is Family Fun Day at Godelie’s Family Farm in Otterville. Check out pumpkins and gourds while enjoying fresh cookies and apple cider plus plenty of farm activities for kids!

13. Experience Pumpkin Fest

If picking your pumpkin and going home just isn’t enough for you, then get the full experience at Pumpkin Fest!

14. Hit Up a Fall Farmers Market

Fall means summer’s fresh berries switched out for heartier fruits and veggies from apples to squash and pumpkins. Fall can be a lovely time to check out a fresh market

15. Feast on Pumpkin Spice Donuts

You read that correctly.  In addition to their always beloved apple fritters, Snyder’s Family Farm also makes pumpkin spice donuts at their on site bakery.  Hello fall.

16. Take a Crafting Class
