From The County to the Escarpment to Lake Erie and beyond, Ontario is growing some beautiful grapes and turning them into some of the best wines weve ever had! With ?The 12 Wines of Local?, OCTAs staff are pouring their favorite #LCBOgolocal wines just in time for the upcoming holiday season.AACome discover whats in our glass!

To begin the weekend, Agatha’s thinking ahead and picking up some dry Riesling to pair with cheese — how divine!

It’s great to find a wine that takes you by surprise, and this Estate Riesling certainly did. Hidden Bench really cares about their grapes and it shows in their wines!A Their passion translates to some pretty awesome small-volume releases.’

Hidden Bench Chardonnay

The Riesling is surprisingly dry.A While the variety can be a bit floral on the nose and sweet on the tongue, this one surprisedA us with some lovely acidity. Mellow notes of Granny Smith Apple and citrus are paired with a little bit of flintiness for a near perfect glass of white.

It opens up a whole new world for a Riesling.AA It would pair beautifully with another new-world version of an old-world product: Gunn’s Hill Artisan Cheese from Woodstock, a regional winner of the Agri-Food Innovation Excellence award this year.

Some lovely, tart young Hidden Bench Reisling with some gorgeous Swiss-style Gunn’s: sounds right to me!A Go for all three of the cheeses and savour the whole range of fruit and nuttiness that marry so well with this wine.

On our list of places to visit next?A The winery!A Hidden Bench has a cosy little tasting room!
