A one day conference on February 18 including an organic lunch hosted by the Canadian Organic Growers – Toronto Chapter.

If you value your food, you won’t want to miss this conference. Why do organic strawberries cost so much? What is the difference between conventional and organic pricing? Will boycotts change the agricultural system? Why has the cancer society taken so long to come on board? Are there organic fish? Get all of these questions answered by expert panelists!

Topics of the conference include: Is Organic Too Extreme? Something Fishy Here, – GE Salmon, Your Food – Your Health, Our Organic Neighbors, Is Organic for Everyone, Growing Desserts, Organic for Schools, Deconstructing Organic Pricing…

Keynote speaker at the conference will be Kristin Kimball, who has written an exceptional memoir The Dirty Life recounting her journey from high-heeled urbanite to hoe wielding farmer. Her message that “farming is beautiful and brutal, romantic and hard, all at once” rings loud and clear as she discovers the satisfaction in the work that to her was “something no less profound than the secret to happiness”.

Tickets are $65 ($85 after February 5) and can be purchased online.
