Protecting The Food Supply: New Canadian &U.S. Food Safety and Product Tracking Compliance Requirements

I.E.Canada will host its 7th Annual Food Forum on February 16, 2012. This much anticipated event is a rare opportunity for those involved in the food industry to network and learn from government and industry leaders in an open and interactive forum.

In what has become an occurrence unique to I.E.Canada’s Food Forum, senior representatives from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Health Canada, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) come together to speak on:

  • Implementation of CFIA’s food import license requirement in 2013
  • Foreign Supplier Verification and the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act
  • Changes to CFIA’s food inspection procedures
  • Modernization of Canada’s Food and Drug Regulations and Health Canada’s approval processes

The Forum will also feature a session focusing on the new U.S. Product Identification Code tracking system being implemented in 2012. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, CBP, CBSA and industry will discuss the impact of this system.
