Volunteer Opportunity: Toronto Youth Food Policy Council

The Toronto Youth Food Policy Council (TYFPC) is North America’s first (!) youth-run food policy council and works as a branch of the Toronto Food Policy Council. The TYFPC is a truly inspiring committee that organizes some fantastic events each year and lobbies for the unique food-related needs of Toronto’s youth.

LIL BACI TAVERNA is a brand new Italian influenced restaurant opening up on Yonge & Davisville. The 100 seat establishment will feature farm to table food of the highest and freshest quality. They will be opening a sandwich shop as well called LIL WICH right beside them, featuring a menu where everything is made in house.

The Stop Community Food Centre is currently looking for a passionate, creative individual to fill a Drop-in Support Worker full-time (30 hrs/wk) position. The Drop-in Support Worker is part of a cooperative team of people that works to create a safe, welcoming and dynamic space in which community members can have a healthy meal, access essential services and supports and participate in social and food-based programs and activities. The Stop’s Drop-in strives to offer a respectful and dignified service to our community with the ultimate aim of reducing social isolation, building individual health and fostering community connections.

A thriving community centre with good food at its heart, The Stop’s programs include drop-in meals, a food bank, bake ovens and markets, community cooking, and sustainable food systems education, as well as perinatal, community action, and urban agriculture programs. The Stop is currently looking for a new Executive Director to lead its high-profile and multi-faceted operations.
