Calling All Fred’s Bread Lovers!
By Noelle Munaretto
Andrea Damon Gibson and Steve Gibson Write: “Fred’s Bread is 15 Years Young! It’s a little unbelievable because the years have gone by so fast. On reflection, 15 years sounds like we are a success, and all of us behind Fred’s Bread feel lucky. After 15 years we’re creating loaves that are better than ever; if we had to do it all over again, you bet your baguette crumb we would!”
To Celebrate our 15th Year Anniversary- we’re asking you- Fred’s Bread fans, home cooks, gourmands and food lovers to join in the party!

Volunteer at The Cutting Veg
By Noelle Munaretto
The Cutting Veg provides the opportunity for folks to come out to the farm and help out with various farm activities, including harvesting, planting, weeding, etc. These volunteer opportunities occur most Sunday to Thursday mornings throughout the farming season and there is no commitment necessary for this. If you would like to become a casual volunteer, please email daniel@thecuttingveg.com and say “add me to the e-newsletter list.” The weekly “Farm Talk” e-newsletter always includes a “Volunteer Needs” section – just RSVP to the e-newsletter to say when you want help out.
In addition, The Cutting Veg is now accepting applications for its “Committed Volunteer” positions. A Committed Volunteer must be willing to commit to a certain shift each week, for six weeks at a time. As well, a Committed Volunteer must be happy to exchange her/his labour for skills, knowledge and veggies. Volunteers are currently being recruited for the following shifts:
- FARM: Tuesday mornings, 6:30am-noon
- FARM: Wednesday mornings, 6:30am-noon
- FARM: Thursday mornings, 6:30am-noon
To apply to be a Committed Volunteer:
Email Melissa (melissa@thecuttingveg.com), The Cutting Veg Field Manager, and let her know:
- What shift you’d like to apply for;
- Dates you’d be interested in committing to;
- And to book a trial shift.
If, after your trial shift, both you and the Farm team feel it’s a good fit, we will firm up the plan, including dates of the commitment (no resumes necessary).
